Joining an Elite Group of Sustainable Material Suppliers

Birla Carbon, manufacturer and supplier of high-quality carbon black solutions, has obtained the ISCC PLUS certification for its plant in Italy. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a voluntary scheme applicable to various sectors of the bioeconomy and circular economy. ISCC PLUS certifies biomass, waste, residues, non-biological renewables, and recycled carbon materials.

Advancing Towards Net Zero Carbon Emissions and Circular Materials

This globally recognized certification aligns with Birla Carbon’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The certification also includes the successful introduction of Continua Sustainable Carbonaceous Material (SCM). Birla Carbon Italy is now certified to produce circular materials like ContinuaTM 8000 SCM, furthering their commitment to sustainability.

Dr. Santrupt Misra, Group Director, expressed his thoughts on the achievement, stating, “This ISCC PLUS certification enables us to better support our customers and meet their growing demand for sustainable products, particularly through our Continua product line.”

John Loudermilk, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “The ISCC PLUS certification for our Italian plant aligns with our principles of environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable production, starting with Continua Sustainable Carbonaceous Material. We intend to adopt this certification at all our manufacturing locations in the near future.”
